Hilton Garden Inn
State: Michigan Completed: 2016
Kerkstra Precast provided 103,341 square feet of precast for the Hilton Garden Inn. The original plans for this 10-story structure called for block-and-plank construction, using reinforced masonry walls with precast plank floors. Hilton officials required a tight timetable for opening the project so it could begin generating revenue. By switching to precast it cut the erection time in half, from four months to only two months. Pairing hollowcore plank and demising wall panels together, allows the wall panels and flooring to be installed at the same time. Other construction methods would require all stories to be built before walls could be installed.
