Kent Innovation High School
State: Michigan Completed: 2013
The Kent ISD Innovation High School presents a whole new world of learning to the Kent County school districts. Kids are given the opportunity to learn in a project-based setting. Collaboration between staff and students is key in this type of learning environment.
Although the education concept is new, the building had to fit into a campus with buildings that had been around for over half a century. The architect and owner wanted to match an existing building that was constructed using an outdated cast-in-place construction method.
Kerkstra quickly came up with a modern and updated way to reproduce this type of construction in a precast plant. We produced precast wall panels with a formliner finish that blended in with the rest of the campus perfectly.
