Lacks Barden Warehouse
State: Michigan City: Kentwood
Completed: 2011 Contractor: Pioneer Construction
The warehouse consists of over 41,000 square feet of insulated wall panels with exposed aggregate. Exposed aggregate is achieved by using a retarder on the concrete surface. The retarders chemical makeup delays the drying process of the surface cement.
After a concrete panel has been poured and dried, the face cement is stripped away with a power washer. This process exposes the stones within the concrete giving the surface a more natural look, with a coarse texture. This warehouse is home to Plastic Plates Inc. which is a part of Lacks Enterprises.
