Meijer Cascade Gas Station State: Michigan City: Grand Rapids Completed: 2016 Contractor: Newco Design Build, Llc When Meijer decided to rebuild the gas station at their Cascade, MI location, they needed to open as quickly as possible. That was accomplished with the use of precast concrete. While erecting the new building, the original building was still open for business. Being the busiest Meijer gas station, the original building could not close until the new one could open, resulting in the demolition of the original gas station occurring after the new one was open. The precast itself only took two days to install. The project started in June of 2016 and the new building was open Fall 2016. Kerkstra provided 3,938 square feet of 9” insulated composite panels for the gas station as well as 402 square feet of 9” solid panels for the trash enclosure. |
