Kerkstra Precast built an addition this past spring to service growth for our wood shop, relocation of our foam fabrication operation, and warehousing of production materials. The addition will help with some of our process improvements inside the plant by allowing for some reorganization of production areas. We were able to complete this project in a very tight timeline. It was a period of five months from the time we contacted the architect to begin drawing to the day that we received our certificate of occupancy.
A central row of precast columns and precast beams to support the hollowcore eliminated any need for steel on the project therefore reducing trades and schedule coordination. The use of CarbonCast insulated wall panels was key as the building has windows, man doors, dock doors common to many structures like this, but it also is an integral part of a total precast system. These CarbonCast walls support hollow-core plank, along with precast columns and beams. CarbonCast insulated panels, along with these other precast products, work hand in hand to provide an ideal environment for our production concerns.
