Our story began over 50 years ago when Larry Kerkstra started installing septic tanks for residential contractors. Under his leadership, Kerkstra evolved to deliver creative precast building solutions that help every project succeed.

Since then, we’ve stayed true to our industry standards and have become a strategic partner to our many valued customers. Our dedication to serve with integrity and excellence has guided us forward.

We remain a solid company built on solid values. We operate two state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Detroit, Michigan, allowing us to provide the highest level of personalized service across the Midwest.

Our History

1962

Larry Kerkstra Started Kerkstra Septic Tank Co.

1963

Precast forms were purchased to begin producing manholes, catch basins and septic tanks.

1978

Kerkstra Septic Tank Co. is incorporated and our name changes to Kerkstra Precast, Inc.

1986

Hollowcore Flooring Systems are introduced.

1997

A new, state-of-the-art production facility is built in Grand Rapids, Michigan with the ability to produce precast prestressed Hollowcore, Beams, Columns, and Wall Panels.

2002

Larry Kerkstra retires and Greg Kerkstra becomes the owner of Kerkstra Precast.

2008

Double tees are added to the Kerkstra product mix.

2016

Kerkstra also opens a brand new 300,000 square-foot production facility in Detroit, Michigan.

2018

Automation equipment is installed for fabrication in the Detroit facility.

2019

Kerkstra undergoes an official rebrand.

2021
