The monument was initially designed as granite rather than precast but when evaluating the budget and the durability, the decision to use precast was made. Unique to this precast project was the exposure of all sides of the precast elements. These pieces were being made as a place for people to walk up to, touch, and remember the event in our history. Forming and pouring these pieces took extra work due to the 3D details of the spires and lettering cast into the members. The project is still looking for donations.
